Lady Pilots/Wildcats Ready for Labor Day
September 04, 2011
SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots and Louisiana Wildcats are set for a Labor Day battle on Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. at The Swamp on the campus of LSUS.The Lady Pilots (0-1) lost their season opener to Louisiana Tech in a game that featured 23 players for Tech and only 13 for the Lady Pilots. Since that game LSUS has had more players cleared by the NAIA to participate in the season and will have more numbers to work with on Labor Day. The Lady Pilots should suit up 17 players for Monday's game.
LSUS only mustard one shot in the Tech game that was taken by mid fielder Kim Phelps. The Lady Pilots look to create more scoring opportunities to give last year's goal scoring leader Brooke Martin a chance to shine.
The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats (0-2) last win came back on October 10, 2009, a 1-0 victory over McMurry University which was LC's only win of the season. The Lady Wildcats have won at least one game in six of the last seven seasons; the only year they did not win a match was their first season in 2003.
Their best season by far was a 6-13 record for the 2007 season. LC is hungry for a win and their first goal of the season.
Previous Meetings
This will be the 4th meeting all-time with LSUS winning the previous three meeting by a combined score of 16-0. This will be just the second time these two teams have met at The Swamp with the Lady Pilots prevailing 6-0 back in 2005.
