Lady Pilots upset 15th ranked Lady Blue Devils

The LSUS Lady Pilots (8-17) looked to improve upon an early season 77-43 loss versus the Dillard University Lady Blue Devils. The Lady Blue Devils entered the game ranked 15th in the nation with a 21-3 overall record. It was the Lady Pilots however who ended up on top by a score of 57-47.
The Lady Pilots controlled the tempo in the first half and managed to hold Dillard to only 7 of 26 shooting in the half and took a 28-26 lead to the locker room. The Lady Blue Devils did manage to connect on 10 of 11 free throws to keep pace with the Lady Pilots. Dillard’s Ebony Owens led all scorers at the break with 11. Renalda Stafford led LSUS with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Teammate Dyamond Hogg ended the half with 6 points and 5 boards.
The shooting woes continued for Dillard in the second half as they only connected on 4 of 28 from the field, 1-14 from the three point line. Owens managed to finish with 21 points and 12 rebounds for Dillard in the defeat. Lady Pilot Renalda Stafford finished with 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead LSUS in the upset over 15th ranked Dillard. Bethany Hicks pitched in with 10 points and 6 boards.
The Lady Pilots will be in action again Saturday at 5:00pm when they host the Spring Hill College Lady Badgers.
