Lady Pilots top Lady Majors 2-1 for 5th straight victory

September 11, 2005

The LSUS Lady Pilots traveled to Jackson, MS Sunday afternoon to take on the Millsaps College Lady Majors, looking to extend their current four game win streak. Michelle Williamson converted on a penalty kick with just 1:47 remaining to break the 1-1 tie and send the Lady Pilots on to victory by a final score of 2-1.

At the conclusion of the first half, the score remained 0-0. Lady Pilot Calandre Singh opened the scoring in the second half with her third goal of the year to give the Lady Pilots a 1-0 lead. That lead was short lived as the Lady Majors battled back for a goal of their own to tie the score at 1-1 just 7:00 later.

With just 1:47 remaining, Lady Pilot Brenna Bussart was fouled in the box, which led to a penalty kick opportunity for LSUS. Head Coach Jed Jones elected for Williamson, the Lady Pilot team captain to take the teams first penalty kick of the year. Williamson found the back of the net for her second goal of the year which figured to be the game winning goal as the Lady Pilots hung on to win 2-1, collecting their 5th consecutive victory to improve to 5-2 on the season.
