Lady Pilots tame Tigers with 82-56 victory

The LSUS Lady Pilots (1-1) played host to the Paul Quinn Lady Tigers Friday night at the Dock. Renalda Stafford led all scorers with 21 points leading the way to the Lady Pilots first win of the season, 82-56.
After a halftime score of 40-30, the Lady Pilots pulled away in the second half outscoring the Lady Tigers 42-26. The Tigers were held scoreless until the 16:03 mark as they could not escape the tough defensive pressure put on by LSUS, which created quality scoring chances for the Lady Pilots. Amanda Castle and Shanie Cardinal also finished in double figures with 11 points each. Kendera Monette led all rebounders with 7.
The lady Pilots finished with 23 steals and created a total of 36 turnovers which led to 39 LSUS points. The Lady Pilots finished the game shooting 43% from the field and were 8-27 from the three-point line. LSUS made good on 24 of 34 free-throw attempts.
Veronica Dunn was the leading Lady Tiger scorer with 19 points. Andrea Anderson finished with 15 points, followed by teammate Hillary Fauble who had 14. The Lady Tigers finished shooting 21-49 from the field, and made good on 5 of 13 three-pointers.
The Lady Pilots moved to 1-1 on the season with the win and now must look ahead to November 19 when they will take on NCAA Div I opponent Southeastern Louisiana University.
