October 11, 2012
SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots used three different goal scorers on Thursday afternoon to take down Texas College 3-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play. All goals came in the second half after a scoreless first half.
LSUS (8-4, 5-1 RRAC) got on the board first with an unassisted goal from Kaitlin Bush, her second goal of the season. It was just nine minutes later when the Lady Pilots found the back of the net again, this time Nea Sunila ripped a laser from 40-yards away to beat the Texas College keeper for a 2-0 lead during 62nd minute. The play was set up nicely by Kelsey Ellender who fed the goal-scoring pass to Sunila.
Texas College (1-12, 0-7 RRAC) did not go down without a fight however, as Diana Monsivais brought the game back within reach with a goal at the 64th minute as she beat the LSUS defense for a breakaway.
Kacie De La Fuente put the game away with just under three minutes to play with her third goal of the season as Morgan Clark was credited with her first assist of the year.
The Lady Pilots will meet Bacone College this Saturday at 3 p.m. at The Swamp for another battle in the Red River Athletic Conference.
