Lady Pilots sting LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Tex. - Brooke Martin scored two goals on Friday afternoon at the LeTourneau Soccer Complex as the LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots eased their way past the LeTourneau YellowJackets 4-0.
LSUS (2-1) picked up where they left off in the second half Martin netted her second goal of the season and second of the game after receiving a pass from Kaitlin Bush who was credited with the assist. The 84th minute brought the Lady Pilots final goal of the evening as Mary Warfield connected on a cross from Jessica Carrion to extend the lead to 4-0.
LU (0-1) had a slow pressuring second half as the managed only two shots in the half as LSUS dominated the scoreboard 25-8 in shots taken.
LSUS goalie Shay Wells had another slow day minding the net as she faced a total of eight shots with half finding their way on frame and she saved them all.
The Lady Pilots pounded their way to a 2-0 halftime lead as they outshot the YellowJackets 12-6 in the first half of play. Sandra Quintero received a pass from Brooke Martin as she eased it in the goal to put the Lady Pilots on top during the 14th minute.
Seven minutes later Martin scored unassisted as she ran past the LeTourneau defenders and beat the YellowJacket keeper for the second goal of the game for the Lady Pilots. The YellowJackets managed six shots in the first half while the four that found their way on goal was saved by LSUS keeper Shay Wells.
The next contest for the Lady Pilots will be on Labor Day at 4 p.m. at The Swamp against UT Tyler.
