Lady Pilots Soccer Set For Saturday's Season Opener

August 24, 2007

Shreveport, La. - After three weeks of preseason practice and one exhibition contest, the LSUS Lady Pilots will finally kickoff the 2007 regular season with a non-conference home game versus Union University (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Pilots begin the 2007 campaign with high hopes after finishing last year with a school record 14 wins, capturing the 2006 GCAC regular season crown and advancing to a second consecutive NAIA Region XIII Tournament.  LSUS returns eight starters off of last year's record-setting team, including the 2006 GCAC Offensive Player of the Year Julia Vaughan and the 2006 GCAC Goalkeeper of the Year Kelsi McNew.

The Lady Bulldogs from Union began their season on Tuesday with a 7-1 victory over Christian Brothers University.  However, Union will enter Saturday’s contest at “The Swamp” with a little revenge on their minds after dropping a 2-0 decision to the Lady Pilots last season on their home turf.

Game time is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at “The Swamp” on the LSUS campus.
