Lady Pilots Shut Out by Oklahoma Christian

September 01, 2008

Shreveport, La. – Oklahoma Christian University denied LSUS the opportunity to sweep two Sooner Athletic Conference opponents during the first-ever LSUS Invitational, defeating the Lady Pilots 3-0 on Monday at The Swamp.

LSUS made things look easy offensively in the first 10 minutes of play, firing off three shots on goal.  Unfortunately, the Lady Pilots came up empty-handed on each attempt.

OC, however, took advantage of one of the few opportunities it had early in the contest, as Jessica Ortman scored a goal at the 17:07 mark in the first half on a ball that was misplayed by the LSUS goalkeeper.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, LSUS was once again the aggressor at the beginning of the second half, as the Lady Pilots controlled the ball for much of the first 30 minutes of action.  But once again, the Lady Pilots were denied a goal as Alicia Marshall nailed one off the crossbar and Caitlin Smith missed a chip shot just wide.

OC broke the game open late in the second half on two goals by speedster Stephanie Duncan.  Duncan used her quickness and speed to get behind the LSUS defense on two separate occasions at the 76:58 and 80:33 marks, sealing the victory for the Lady Eagles.

LSUS (2-2) will have a week off before hosting Alcorn State next Monday at 2:00 p.m.  The Lady Pilots defeated Alcorn earlier this season by a score of 4-0.
