Lady Pilots Run Away From Mobile

January 31, 2009

Shreveport, La. – The No. 22 LSUS Lady Pilots didn’t need a whole lot of defense on Saturday night, as they offense put 85 points on the board in an 85-58 victory over the Mobile Lady Rams.

LSUS (18-2, 8-1) shot 53% from the field for the game, including going 11-for-25 (44%) from the three-point line.  Sophomore Whitney Hollins nailed five three-point baskets, finishing with a game-high 19 points.

Although the Lady Pilots didn’t need much defense, they still used a tough, aggressive defense to cause the Lady Rams trouble throughout the game.  LSUS forced 22 Mobile turnovers and made the Lady Rams earn every basket that they got.  In turn, Mobile made just 3-of-14 free throws in the contest, mostly because of an LSUS defense that continually wore them down.

Tish Flowers shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the field for the Lady Pilots to finish with 15 points, while three other Lady Pilots also ended in double-figures.  Valerie Huizar scored 12 points, while Callie Davis and Quan Joseph each added 11 points from off the bench.

LSUS is off to the best start in school history and is currently alone in first place in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference standings.  The Lady Pilots will face Tougaloo College on Thursday night at The Dock.
