Lady Pilots Roll Past Paul Quinn

January 21, 2012
SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots had the advantage of using players off the bench on Saturday night at The Dock as they eased passed the five-player squad from Paul Quinn College 69-51 for their sixth straight win in Red River Athletic Conference play.

The Lady Pilots (12-5, 10-1 RRAC) stretched their lead to nine points by the sound of the buzzer following a time out with 5.5 seconds as the inbound pass found Henry on the baseline who hit the jumper for 10 first half points.

Paul Quinn (4-12, 3-8 RRAC) played hard for forty minutes and shot 42% from the floor including five of nine from three-point range but it was not enough.

LSUS never led by double digits in the first half but after the opening bucket in the second half by Meoshi Bradley they never led by less than double digits for the rest of the night as they stretched their lead to as much as 24 following a three-point bucket by Brittany Maddox. LSUS got great production from their bench players as they accounted for 18 points including Amelia Broussard's four points and three assists in just nine minutes while Victoria Smith led the bench with nine points.

Jenna Diakos finished the game as she did the first half as the leading scorer as she finished the evening with 18 points and four rebounds. Sharde Henry also had four boards and tossed in 16 points to help the Lady Pilots keep their second spot in the RRAC regular season standings. Jennifer Hicks turned in her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Bradley led the team with four assists.

The home team won the battle on the boards 33-22 while making only one from downtown in only four tries. The Lady Pilots were perfect from the free-throw line at the half making all five attempts but finished five of eight in the second half.

The next game for the Lady Pilots will be Monday, Jan. 23, at The Dock at 5:30 p.m. against Huston-Tillotson. LSUS won the previous meeting earlier this year 89-59 in Austin.
