Lady Pilots reaches highest ranking in program history
December 06, 2012
LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots are considered among NAIA's best and have won their way up in the Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Lady Pilots are No. 17 in this week's poll, which is the highest national ranking in the program's history. The Lady Pilots are led by Head Coach Ronnie Howell who was honored for another great season last year by being named the 2011 - 2012 Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
The Lady Pilots have started the season 7 - 1 for the third time and are a perfect 3 - 0 in Red River Athletic Conference play. The team ranks nationally top 20 in several statistical categories and are looking to be on course for another great season.
The Lady Pilots have three players averaging double-digits in scoring. Sharde Henry (17.0) leads the way followed by Christy Willis (14.8) and Jenna Diakos (13.6). Vic Smith has also played a vital role in the Lady Pilots start by averaging 7.8 points per game and a team leading 8.9 rebounds. Diakos is not far behind Smith in rebounding pulling down 7.8 boards a game. Meoshi Bradley has served as the Lady Pilots floor general averaging 4.8 assists per game.
If you haven't taken the opportunity to see the Lady Pilots in action this season, you are missing out. Make plans to come out to The Dock Friday, December 7, 2012, and watch the Lady Pilots take on the Ladies from crosstown-rival Centenary College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a men's game between the two schools.
