Lady Pilots look to continue win streak heading into postseason
February 21, 2006
Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Lady Pilots are one win shy of tying their season high win streak of four games which they posted in December, and one win shy of setting a new single season win record with 14. Back-to-back conference wins has the Lady Pilots battling to improve their post-season chances to host the first round of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Lady Pilots currently stand in a tie for 5th place with Spring Hill College at 4-6 in conference play. LSUS has locked in a tournament birth as Belhaven College was eliminated from postseason contention last weekend after a loss to the Loyola University dropped them to 2-10 on the year with no games remaining.
With each of the remaining teams having two games left to be played on the regular season schedule, the Lady Pilots postseason position can range from any where between 4th and 6th place.
LSUS will play host to LU this Thursday night which will also be senior night. Head Coach Ronnie Howell and the rest of the Lady Pilots will pay tribute to their lone senior, Marcia Spyhalski. Spyhalski has come on strong of late, posting a double-double in Saturdays win over Spring Hill College and received GCAC Player of the Week honors just two weeks ago.
The Lady Pilots will wrap up their regular season Saturday night when they will travel to Hattiesburg, MS to take on the William Carey College Lady ‘Saders.
The GCAC Tournament bracket will be set at the conclusion of Saturday’s contest and will follow the predetermined schedule.
