Lady Pilots get by SAGU

WAXAHACHIE, Tex. - Two goals in the second half propelled the LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots past the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lady Lions 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the SAGU Sports Complex.

After a scoreless first half both teams got on the board in the second half with the Lady Pilots striking first as Mary Warfield headed in a rainbow style cross of a Nea Sunila corner kick during the 75th minute for the 1-0 lead.

Forty-four seconds later the Lady Pilots struck again this time Heather McCutchen received a long pass across the field from Jaynie Stewart to put their team on top 2-0.

SAGU's (1-8, 0-2 RRAC) got their lone goal during the 81st minute off a penalty kick from Jessica Powell.

LSUS (5-3, 2-0 RRAC) blasted 21 total shots in the contest compared to their counterparts who took 10 total shots. The Lady Pilots have now won three games in a row while this marks the second straight loss for the Lady Lions.

The next game for the Lady Pilots will be on Thursday, September 27, at The Swamp at 3 p.m. versus Wiley College.
