Lady Pilots fall to NSU in exhibition

NATCHITOCHES, La. - The LSU Shreveport women's basketball team was defeated 63-40 on Monday night by the Northwestern State University Lady Demons at Prather Colisuem snapping the Lady Demons four game-losing streak.

NSU (4-9) led by as much as 22 in the first half only to see their lead deteriorate to a 14-point advantage at the break by the Lady Pilots.

LSUS (6-5) record remains the same after a meaningless game as far as record goes while the game improves the record for NSU. The Lady Pilots shot a slim 25% from the field including 0-10 from the three-point line.

Jasmine Upchurch led all scorers with 22 points for the Lady Demons while Meredith Graf (13) and Jordi James (11) were the only other two scorers to reach double figures. Trudy Armstead dominated the boards collecting the game-high 19 rebounds while Upchurch had 11 as the game's only two to reach double-digit rebounds for NSU.

The Lady Pilots had no scorers or rebounders in double figures as NSU outdueled the LSUS under the bucket collecting a total of 56 rebounds compared the Lady Pilot's 39. Christy Willis and Sharde Henry tied for the team lead with eight points each while Meoshi Bradley and Victoria Smith each tossed in six points. Simone Brewer led the Lady Pilots with eight rebounds.

The next game for the Lady Pilots (6-5, 4-1 RRAC) will be at The Dock on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 5:30 p.m. against the University of the Southwest (6-6, 1-5 RRAC).
