Lady Pilots fall to NSU

NATCHITOCHES, La. - The LSU Shreveport women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Northwestern State Lady Demons on Monday night at the NSU Soccer Complex.
Shay Wells was the busiest she has been this season minding the net for the Lady Pilots in the tough loss at NSU. Wells saved 10 of the 13 put on goal by the Lady Demons. All starters for NSU with the exception of one took at least one shot while four of the nine subs had at least one shot as well.
NSU (2-4) kept the pressure on the Lady Pilots all night as they led the shot category 34-9 at the final horn. The Lady Demons got on the board during the 27th minute with a goal from Yanci Johnson with the assist to Ashlee Savona. Six minutes later Savona assisted Taylor Mulnix for a 2-0 NSU halftime lead.
The Lady Demons added the final goal of the night as Rebecca Furlow hit the crossbar on a free kick and the rebound found Chelsea Schaefer during the 86th minute as she placed it in the back of the net.
LSUS' chances were few but their best chance in the second half came when Heather McCutchen sent a pass over the NSU defenders to find Ella Galvin who's shot went high with 25 minutes to play.
The Lady Pilots (2-3) took the first few shots of the contest but it did not take NSU very long to organize their attack as the outshot the Lady Pilots 18-4 during the first half. Shay Wells did all she could minding the net for the Lady Pilots as she made six saves during the first half including cutting off some crosses as well. LSUS only managed one shot on goal in the first half by Heather McCutchen.
The next game for the Lady Pilots will be another road game, this time at Louisiana College this Thursday at 7 p.m. in Pineville, Louisiana.
