Lady Pilots fall to Loyola 60-44

The LSUS Lady Pilots played host to the Loyola University Wolfpack Thursday night in their last home game of the year. The first time the two teams squared off in New Orleans, the Wolfpack got the best of the Lady Pilots by pulling off a 65-51 victory. The Wolfpack once again took the lead over LSUS in the first half by a score of 37-22, and went on to win by a final score of 60-44.

At the 9:00 mark of the first half the two teams were tied at 20, but the Wolfpack finished the half on a 17-2 run. LSUS was only 8-28 in the half, 4 of 9 from behind the three point line. Loyola was 14-28 in the half, 5 of 13 from three. Kate Pilgreen of Loyola was the leading scorer in the half with 11 points and added 4 rebounds. Saige Cooper led the Lady Pilots with 11 points.

LSUS played tough in the second half but could never recover from the first half deficit. Loyola outscored the Lady Pilots 23-22 in the second frame connecting on 8-26 in the half. LSUS shot 9-27 from the field, 17-55 on the game. Dyamond Hogg led the Lady Pilots with 11 points followed by Saige Cooper who had 10. Loyola’s Marjorie Bilinski was the games high scorer with 14 points. Dani Holland finished with games only double-double, 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Wolfpack.

The Lady Pilots (8-19, 4-13GCAC) travel to Hattiesburg, MS Saturday for their last regular season contest. The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference will take place next week in New Orleans at the Alario Center. The lady Pilots will be in action Wednesday night against a yet to be determined opponent.
