Lady Pilots Fall to Bulldogs despite Late Comeback The LSUS Lady Pilots took the floor for the first time in the 2003-04 season Tuesday night versus the Jarvis Christian College Bulldogs. The Bulldogs entered the competition sporting a 2-0 record on the season. Jarvis Christian College did not break stride in the first half as they led the entire way through the frame, taking a 31-24 lead into the locker-room at the half.
In the second half of play it began to look like the Bulldogs were about to run away with the score as they built an 11 point cushion with eight minutes of regulation time remaining. After a time-out call by head coach Ronnie Howell, the Lady Pilots kicked into gear and cut the Bulldog lead to two points with two minutes remaining behind the hot-hand of Dyamond Hogg. A three pointer and four clutch free-throws by Hogg had the Lady Pilots looking to tie the game for the first time since early in the first half.
With LSUS in possession of the ball with two minutes remaining, the Bulldogs continued their tough defense and managed to force a turn-over which resulted in two points and a lead that put the game out of reach. The game ended with a final score of 54-48 in favor of Jarvis Christian College who improved their record to a perfect 3-0 on the season. Jennifer Oko led the Bulldog offensive attack with 12 points and Sheree Smiling pitched in with 10. For the Lady Pilots, Dyamond Hogg ended with 14 points, followed by Renalda Stafford with 10 and Kendera Monette finished with 9.
The Lady Pilots are back in action Friday afternoon at the John Brown University Classic in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
