Lady Pilots fall in OT to Wiley

December 15, 2012

SHREVEPORT, La. - The no. 17 LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots came up on the short end of Saturday afternoons overtime thriller at The Dock 78-75 to the Wiley Lady Wildcats in Red River Athletic Conference action. The Lady Wildcats received votes in the most recent NAIA Top 25 poll and will likely move into the top 25 when the next poll is released.

LSUS (9-2, 4-1 RRAC) is still worthy of a top 25 spot with their two losses coming this year by a total of four points to two teams that were in the top 25 and one that received votes. Sharde Henry had a season-high 28 points which was also today's game high while grabbing nine rebounds. Henry had the tying bucket at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

Jenna Diakos had her fifth double-double of the season with an 18 point and 10 rebound performance on a day where the Lady Pilots shot 44-percent.

Wiley (12-1, 6-0 RRAC) should jump into the top 25 in January and are well deserving of it. Today four different scorers finished with double figures with Litka Smith leading the way with a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Jean Spears had 16 points and Danisha Shaw 13 and Aliesha Carruthers 10.

The Lady Wildcats started the game fast and furious with an 11-2 run but the Lady Pilots fought their way back into the game and eventually tied the game late in the half to take a two-point lead at the break. The visitors ruled the paint outscoring the Lady Pilots 46-26 as they also won the rebounding battle 45-42.

The next game for the Lady Pilots will be on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at The Dock at 5:30 p.m. against Huston-Tillotson.
