January 08, 2004
Both the Pilots and Lady Pilots were in action Thursday at the LSUS Gymnasium. The women took the floor looking for their first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference win in school history. The first half looked promising as the Lady Pilots kept pace with the Tougaloo College Lady Bulldogs, only trailing 32-28 at the half.

The Lady Pilots struggled in the second half however and allowed the Lady Bulldogs to finish the game with a 20-2 point run, and leave town with a 58-46 victory. Kendera Monette finished with a game high 14 points and 13 rebounds, followed by teammate India Coleman with 11 points and 5 boards.

The LSUS Pilots took the floor in the night cap looking to avenge the earlier loss by the Lady Pilots. Rico Payne led the Pilots to victory with a 29 point performance, which included shooting 6-9 from beyond the 3-point line. The Pilots improved their conference record to 2-1, and now have a season record of 8-6.

Both LSUS teams head to New Orleans this weekend to for two conference matches versus Loyola University Saturday, and Dilliard University Monday.
