Lady Pilots Drop Third Straight

JACKSON, Miss. - The LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots women's basketball team lost their third straight competition on Friday afternoon 68-42 to the Belhaven Lady Blazers in the Belhaven Holiday Classic at Rugg Arena.

Belhaven (11-4) defeated LSUS for the second time this season as they built a 12-point lead by the halftime break in front of their hometown crowd after shooting 48% from the field. The Lady Blazers finished at 40% for the game and had three scorers reach double figures as Regina Jackson led all scorers with 24 points while Portia Tucker had 14 and Kiara Johnson pitched in 12 points.

LSUS (6-5) could not get things going from the field as they finished the game making only 27%. No starter reached double figures but Jennifer Hicks had 12 points off the bench for the visitors. The Lady Pilots did win the rebounding battle 38-36 with Simone Brewer grabbing the most with seven boards on the evening.

Next the Lady Pilots will meet the Lady Demons of Northwestern State University on Monday, Jan. 2, in Natchitoches at 7 p.m. in an exhibition game before getting back to RRAC action on Thursday, Jan. 5, against the University of the Southwest at 5:30 p.m.
