Lady Pilots drop GCAC opener against Wolfpack

January 09, 2006

New Orleans, La. – Kiely Schork shot 60% from the field in route to 16 points as Loyola downed LSU-Shreveport 56-39 Saturday night in The Den.

The Wolfpack had an eight point advantage at the half as the two teams traded buckets much of the first nine minutes of the period.  Loyola led 40-30 at the 11:28 mark.  Kim Rigg was fouled and converted two free throws that started a 14-4 run, capped by four consecutive points by Marjorie Bilinski to give the Wolfpack a solid 54-34 lead with 4:04 to play.

“It was nice to get back home and play a game on our home floor.  I thought our women played well and it was a great win in our home opener.  Our focus now turns to Mobile, who we face on Monday,” said Loyola head coach Dobee Plaisance.

Besides Schork, Loyola had two other players with double figures.  Trenell Smith scored 14 points on four of six shooting and Dani Holland had 10 points.  Bilinski finished with nine.

For LSUS (8-4, 0-1), Jessica Kelly had a double double 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Moche Roque was their leading scorer with 12 points.
