Lady Pilots Drop Exhibition Opener

November 01, 2007

Lake Charles, La. -  The LSUS Lady Pilots shot just 26% from the field and committed 25 turnovers in a 59-45 loss to McNeese State University on Thursday night.

Edie Leonards led the way for the Lady Pilots with 16 points, while fellow senior Kacie Cryer chipped in with 11 points of her own.

The game was much closer than the final outcome, as the Lady Pilots trailed by only four with just under 10 minutes to play in the contest.

"Defensively, we played well enough to win the ballgame tonight," said head coach Ronnie Howell.  "We had our chances in the second half to make a run at them, but we just couldn't seem to knock down the open shots they gave us."

Courtnee' Hollins, the sister of LSUS freshman Whitney Hollins, led all scorers with 19 points for the McNeese Lady Cowboys.

The Lady Pilots will begin regular season play on Saturday night again Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
