Lady Pilots Drop Exhibition Contest to Lamar University
November 10, 2007
BEAUMONT, Texas. - The Lady Pilots of LSUS dropped their third straight exhibition contest this season versus a NCAA Division-1 opponent after falling 86-52 to Lamar University.
Missed opportunities, turnovers (25) and poor free-throw shooting (22%) doomed the Lady Pilots on Saturday afternoon.
"We turned the ball over way too many times, and they are too good of a team to give that many opportunities to," said LSUS head coach Ronnie Howell.
The Lady Pilots played most of today's game short-handed as starting post player Kacie Cryer sat out the entire game with an injury, and both point guards (Teokea Wilkerson and Tish Flowers) each left the game in the first half and did not return.
Senior Edie Leonards led the Lady Pilots in scoring with 12 points, while freshman Whitney Hollins added 9 points. Junior Janai Sells pulled down a team-high six rebounds for the Lady Pilots.
LSUS (1-0) will play at home for the first time this season against Jarvis Christian College on Monday night at "The Dock."
Tip-off for the home opener is set for 5:30 PM with the men's game following at 7:30 PM.
