Lady Pilots down SAGU

WAXAHACHIE, Tex. - The no. 17 LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots struggled on Thursday night at the Shafer Center but managed to leave town with a 58-47 victory to pick up their sixth consecutive win and remain unbeaten in Red River Athletic Conference play.
LSUS (9-1, 4-0 RRAC) shot just 31-percent while the Lady Lions shot 33-percent. Brittany Maddox had single game career highs blasting five of nine from downtown total the game's high of 17 points. Maddox had previously set her single - game career high with 15 points in the Lady Pilots' last game.
Sharde Henry netted 13 points while Christy Willis had a dozen points. LSUS did however turn the ball over 17 times but the defense stepped up and forced 25 SAGU turnovers. The Lady Pilots cleaned the glass 37-29 with Jenna Diakos and Ariel Harrell each pulling down eight rebounds apiece.
SAGU (4-8, 1-5) placed a few double digit scorers with Taylor Hill leading the team with 16 points and Jessica Sodich tossed in 13.
LSUS Head Coach Ronnie Howell will take the win but would have loved for his team to have played better, "We did not play our best but we did what we had to do to win."
The stage is now set for the big RRAC showdown Saturday afternoon at The Dock at 2 p.m. as the Lady Pilots take on Wiley College who has received votes in the past two NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll.
