Lady Pilots dominate Texas College

TYLER, Tex. - The LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots soccer team scored four goals in the second half in route to a 6-1 win over Texas College on Thursday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference play.

LSUS (6-4-1, 3-1-1 RRAC) netted the first goal of the contest from Brooke Martin during the 8th minute with an assist credited to Sandra Quintero to put the Lady Pilots on top 1-0. Christina Hamilton scored her first goal of the season with a header on a corner kick during the 43rd minute with an assist from Kim Phelps. LSUS led at the half 2-0.

LSUS outshot Texas College in the first half 10-4.

Martin began the second half with two goals (56:07 and 62:53) to give her the hat trick as Sarah Guillory was credited with an assist on the goal during the 62nd minute. This marks the third time this season that she has scored three or more goals in a game. Martin now has 13 goals on the season and with today's goals snaps a three game skid with no goals.

Sandra Quintero came back in the second half after setting out most of the first half due to an injury to score 5th goal of the season during the 69th minute of the contest following a crisp pass from Lindsey Luquette which was her first assist of the season to give the Lady Pilots a 5-0 advantage.

Irene Henriksson scored the final goal of the day for the Lady Pilots as Sarah Guillory was credited with her second assist of the game and her fifth of the season. The goal came during the 75th minute and was Henriksson's fifth of the season.

Texas College (3-9, 3-4 RRAC) high point of the game came during the 83rd minute as they got on the board with a goal from Karla Valles to trim the LSUS' lead to 6-1.

LSUS dominated the shot totals outshooting TC 26-13 with 17 on goal while TC placed 8 on frame.

Shay Wells played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lady Pilots with seven saves and only allowing one goal while Diana Martinez had 10 saves with six goals allowed in 90 minutes of action for TC.

The win puts the Lady Pilots back in the win column as their last win came on September 24th, a 4-0 win over SAGU.

The next game for the Lady Pilots will be on Sunday, October 16th, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, at 1 p.m. against Bacone College.
