Lady Pilots defeat Texas College
January 14, 2012
TYLER, Tex. - The LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots picked up their fourth straight win on Saturday afternoon at the Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium over Texas College 77-62. LSUS only allowed TC to just three offensive rebounds in the second half to seal the deal.Neither team shot their best in the first half as the home team made just 22% from the field while the Lady Pilots made 38%. The charity stripe was the only thing that kept Texas College (3-12, 3-7 RRAC) in the game in the first half as they made 10 of 12 attempts to keep the visitors within five as LSUS (10-5, 8-1 RRAC) led at the break 32-27.
Both teams shot the ball much better in the second half as the Lady Pilots blazed the net for 60% while TC made 44% from the floor. TC was not quite as good from the free-throw line as they made nine of 14 but the Lady Pilots made eight of 10. The three-point line was not much of a factor in the game as both teams combined for a total of three drained from beyond the arc, two by LSUS.
Jenna Diakos led all scorers with 21 points while Jennifer Hicks had 17 and Meoshi Bradley 12 to round out the double figure scorers for the Lady Pilots while Texas College had four as Shirley McGowan led the home team with 18 points.
The Lady Pilots will look for their fifth consecutive victory on Monday night at The Dock against the SAGU Lady Lions at 5:30 p.m.
