Lady Pilots defeat Bacone for 12th straight win

MUSKOGEE, Okla. - The LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots hang on to the top spot in the Red River Athletic Conference standings following a 67-57 victory over the Bacone Lady Warriors on Saturday afternoon to pick up their 12th consecutive win.
LSUS (18-5, 15-1 RRAC) finished the contest with four double figure shooters while Bacone had two despite neither team having their best night at shooting the basketball. LSUS made 11 of 37 from the field for just 29% in the first half but the Lady Warriors were not any better as they made just 21% converting on 7 of 33 attempts from the field.
Jennifer Hicks led the scoring for the first-place Lady Pilots with 16 points while Sharde Henry turned in her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and as many rebounds. Jenna Diakos and Brittany Maddox round out the double figure scorers with 10 points each.
LSUS grabbed 56 rebounds compared to Bacone's 45. The Lady Pilots claimed 23 offensive rebounds while the Lady Warriors only grabbed 13 of their missed shots. Diakos and Hicks each pulled down eight rebounds apiece. Jasmine Siever was the only double digit rebounder for Bacone with 10.
Both teams made three from downtown in the first half while Bacone made three more in the second and LSUS only drained one in the second half. LSUS outscored the Lady Warriors by six in the first half to lead by 32-26 at the half.
The next game for the Lady Pilots will be Monday night at 5:30 p.m. as they take on Langston who trails the Lady Pilots by half a game in the RRAC standings. Langston won the first meeting earlier in the year 73-65 at The Dock.
