Lady Pilots Defeat Alcorn State

August 23, 2008

Jackson, Miss. - The LSUS Lady Pilots earned their first win of the 2008 season, as they defeated the Alcorn State Lady Braves, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon.

After being shut out in the season opener of Friday, LSUS senior Krystel Reilly scored the first goal of the season for the Lady Pilots just four minutes into today's contest.  Freshman Heather Lofties also picked up an assist on the goal for the first point of her collegiate career.

LSUS increased their lead to 2-0 on a goal by junior Alicia Marshall at the 8:51 mark in the first half.

The Lady Pilots continued to pour it on in the second half, as senior Michelle Talley and freshman Charli Beall each scored a goal in the LSUS win.

LSUS out shot Alcorn 18-1 on the afternoon, as the Lady Braves could not get anything going against a stingy LSUS defense.

LSUS (1-1) will be back in action next Saturday at "The Swamp" in their home opener versus Oklahoma City University.  The Lady Pilots will host the first-ever LSUS Invitational over Labor Day Weekend, which features Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma Christian University and UT-Tyler.
