September 20, 2005
Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Lady Pilots poured in five goals in the first half versus the LeTourneau University Lady Jackets Tuesday afternoon at The Swamp and went on to collect their 7th consecutive win by a final score of 6-0.
Hannah Jennings sent a pass through the Lady Jackets defense which was chased down by the speedy Calandre Singh who pushed a shot in the right corner of the net passed goal keeper Anna Wolfgang to put the Lady Pilots up 1-0 at the 7:05 mark.
LSUS forward and leading scorer Katrina Blackwell broke through the LeTourneau defense but was fouled by Rachel Hastie before she could get a shot off which led to a Lady Pilot penalty kick. Michelle Williamson came on to take the kick and drove it by a defenseless Wolfgang for her 4th goal of the season and a 2-0 just 14:22 into the first half.
Blackwell managed to find the back of the net at the 20:00 mark after striking a pass from Shaderia Evans out of midair for her 9th goal of the season. Just 6:00 later, Singh collected her second goal of the match with a beautiful shot from the left side of the field that found the inside of the right post giving the Lady Pilots a 4-0 lead.
Singh capped off a tremendous first half performance with a left footed cross to the center of the field that was headed passed Wolfgang by freshman forward Krystel Reilly for her first goal of the year at the 35:40 mark, sending the Lady Pilots into the half with a 5-0 lead.
After being out shot 13-2 in the first half, the Lady Jackets responded with a much better performance in the second half as they held the Lady Pilots scoreless until Amber Dentmon chipped home a pass from Blackwell with just 0:20 remaining in the match for her second goal of the year. The Lady Pilots out shot the Lady Jackets 9-8 in the second half and 22-10 overall.
Sarah McLean collected seven saves including a brilliant punch save denying Lady Jackets Karisa Kaye of a goal after she found herself all alone in front a sent a shot to the top corner of the net only to be deflected by McLean and then off the crossbar and out of play. McLean is now 7-0 on the year which includes 4 shutouts.
The Lady Pilots have now won 7 consecutive games and have improved to 7-2 on the year. They will travel to Hammond, LA Friday afternoon where they will square off against their 3rd NCAA Division I opponent of the year, Southeastern Louisiana University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30pm.
