Lady Pilots and Mobile Battle to 1-1 Tie

October 12, 2007
MOBILE, Al.-- The LSUS women's soccer team played 20 extra minutes Thursday evening and tied the University of Mobile 1-1.

In the first half, it appeared the game would see plenty of scoring, as both teams tallied a goal in the first 23 minutes of action. But, after that 1-1 halftime score, the defenses picked it up and kept the ball out of the net.

Chelsea Bate struck first for Mobile, when she received a gift and knocked it home. 13:30 into the game, LSUS' goalkeeper came forward to clear the ball and miss-hit it. Waiting in the middle was Bate, who gathered in the ball and quickly chipped it over the out-of-position keeper for the opening tally.

Then, the Lady Pilots got a gift score of their own, when they were set up with a penalty kick 22:28 into the first period. Michelle Williamson took the kick and had no trouble knocking it into the back of the net to finish the scoring.

LSUS moves to 9-4-1 with the tie, and they will stay in Mobile and play Spring Hill College on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Pilots defeated the Lady Badgers 1-0 last Sunday.  Kickoff is set for 3:00 P.M.
