Lady Pilots advance to round two of GCAC Tournament with 57-52 win over Tougaloo

New Orleans, LA---The LSUS Lady Pilots (13-19) squared of against the Tougaloo College Lady Bulldogs (9-20) Tuesday afternoon at Dillard University in New Orleans to open up the first round of play in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference tournament. The #7 Lady Pilots hung on to defeat the #10 Lady Bulldogs 57-52 for their first ever post-season victory. Saige Cooper led the Lady Pilots with 13 points which included a 4-9 shooting performance from beyond the three-point line. Kendera Monette pitched in with 10 points, while Marcia Spyhalski collected a game high 10 rebounds and 8 points in the victory to advance the Lady Pilots to round two of the GCAC Tournament.

The Lady Pilots now must prepare for a match-up against the #2 University of Mobile Lady Rams at 8:00am Wednesday morning. The tournament venue will now move from Dillard University to Fogleman Arena at Tulane University.

The LSUS Pilots await the winner of Tougaloo College and Loyola University which will be played tonight at 6:00pm. The winner of that game will play the Pilots at 10:00pm Wednesday night.
