Lady Bulldogs defat Lady Pilots 76-56

Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Lady Pilots cut the Tougaloo College Lady Bulldogs lead to 41-39 with 10:24 remaining in the second half, but the Lady Bulldogs ended the second half on a 35-17 run en route to a 76-56 victory to improve to 9-7 on the year, and 4-3 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

The Lady Pilots trailed 32-24 at the break despite shooting 50% (8-of-16) from the field which included 3-of-4 from the three-point line. The difference in the half proved to be the 15 turnovers committed by the Lady Pilots.

LSUS responded in the second half with a 13-4 run which cut the Lady Bulldogs lead to 38-37 after Jessica Kelly collected one of her game high four steals leading to a fast break lay-up.

At the 9:19 mark Lady Pilot center Janai Sells collected an offensive rebound and banked a basket home capping a Lady Pilot 5-0 run. LSUS called a timeout trailing 43-41 with 9:19 remaining which was as close they would come on this night.

On the ensuing possession Jasmine Lindsay drained one of her game high five three-point field goals which started an 18-5 Lady Bulldog lead which put the game out of reach.

Lindsay finished with a game high 23 points which included 8-of-12 shooting (5-of-7 from the three-point line) leading the Lady Bulldog offense that shot a combined 59% (28-48) from the field.

Travalyn Smith added 14 points while teammate Marquetia Thomas finished with nine points and a game high eight rebounds.

LSUS struggled from the field in the second half shooting just 11-of-33 from the field while committing nine turnovers. Jessica Kelly however continued to shine for the Lady Pilots collecting 14 points, six rebounds, and four steals.Moache Roque collected 13 points on 3-of-13 shooting and added thee assists Marcia Spyhalski rounded off the Lady Pilot offense with 11 points and eight rebounds; four of which came on the offensive end which were a result of pure hustle.

LSUS now stands at 10-8 overall and fell to 2-5 in the GCAC. They will return to action Saturday night when they will play host to the University of Mobile Rams. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
