Knights pound Pilots 26-8
March 28, 2005
Cedar Hills, TX---Pilots starter Frank Kowatz (3-1) fell victim to some sloppy Pilot defense who surrendered four unearned runs in the bottom of the first which set the tone for the remainder of the ball game as the Northwood University Knights went on to hand the Pilots their largest loss of the year by a final score of 26-8.
The Knights collected 21 hits and nine walks on route to their 26 runs in the ball game. Randy Sykes, Jason Ford, and Steven Mears each collected three hits and combined for 10 RBI leading the Knights offense. Chase Adams collected the win for the Knights completing 5.0 innings while allowing three runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out three LSUS hitters.
The Pilots offense managed to collect 14 hits which included a 3-5 performance by Dustin Bissonnette and solo-homeruns by Derek Cunningham and Colin Moro. Dusty Maddox and Bryan Cooksey each collected two hits and a run scored.
With the loss the Pilots have fallen to 23-8 on the season and will be back in action tomorrow afternoon in double-header action against Central Arkansas University at Pilot Field with game one scheduled to begin at 4:00pm.
