Julia Vaughan earns 2006 LSWA 1st-Team honors

Julia Vaughan, a 5’8 sophomore led the 2006 version of the LSUS Lady Pilots to a 14-4 overall record and a second straight Region XIII Tournament birth with a team high 17 goals and eight assists. The fleet-footed forward from Shreveport, LA garnered 1st-Team All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference honors, and has just been selected to the 1st-Team All-Louisiana list by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Vaughan set the LSUS scoring record with 42 points overall and also set the single season goal scoring record with 17. Her 2.47 points per game average throughout 17 games was the highest among all scorers in the state of Louisiana.

Brenna Bussart and Alicia Marshall also represented the Lady Pilots as honorable mention All-Louisiana members.

Bussart, a 5’8 midfielder from Shreveport, LA collected a career high nine goals and one assist. Her sophomore season scoring total of 19 points was five better than her very impressive 14 point freshman season in 2005.

Marshall, a 5’7 freshman defender from Texarkana, TX showed her athletic talents throughout the 2006 season not only on the defensive end of the field, but also on the offensive attack. Marshall finished second on the team in scoring with 30 total points including 11 goals and eight assists.
