"Full Recovery" remains a possibility for Josh Porter

November 30, 2006

As the doctors filed in one after another into Josh Porter’s hospital room Wednesday night, friends and family anxiously awaited for the current status of his unfortunate situation. The doctor who is scheduled to complete his surgery explained that Josh is a very blessed young man. Just a few short months ago, the same doctor performed surgery on an ex-major league baseball player who suffered the exact same injury; a fractured C5 vertebrae, which left him paralyzed from the neck down. In Josh’s case however, he is expected to undergo surgery as early as tomorrow afternoon, or as late as Friday morning, which is estimated will allow him to make a “full recovery”. Whether or not this means we will once again see Josh step on the court remains at moot point, however, the possibility has not been overlooked.

Please continue to visit the website for further information, and keep sending your kind words and prayers for Josh and his family. Please send any mail to sports@lsus.edu and they will be sure to be delivered to the Porter family.

If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity, it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life, and when it comes, hold your head high. Look it squarely in the eye, and say, "I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me. - Ann Landers

Josh Porter continues to hold his head high, and we wish him and his family all the best.
