Former Pilots excelling in Professional Baseball

August 08, 2006

LSUS Baseball continues to churn out prospects for Professional Baseball teams.  Riley Cook (2005-06) recently signed with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League.  Cook wasted no time settling in by throwing out an opposing runner out at home plate in his first defensive opportunity and getting a hit in his first professional at-bat.  Currently Cook his batting .417 through six games.

Derek Cunningham (2005) is playing in his second season with the Shreveport Sports of the American Association.  Cunningham continues to eat up innings for the Sports with 35 stikeouts in 38 innings, while carrying a 3.55 ERA and holding opponents to a stingy .229 batting average.

Former LSUS, two-time All-Region outfielder, Dusty Maddox (2005-06), sizzled out of the gates for the Atlantic City Surf of the Atlantic League, before being placed on the disabled list with a wrist injury.  Maddox upped his stock in the league by hitting successfully against several pitchers with Major League Baseball experience on their resume.

Tyson Arishenkoff (2001-03) continues to bat in the middle of the line-up for the Amsterdam Pirates of Dutch Major League Baseball.  The slick fielding shortstop was 4th in the league in hitting at .352 and near the top of the league in several offensive categories.

Left-handed pitcher, Eric Domangue, (2002) is finding success with New York Met affiliate, Hagerstown, with a 2.45 ERA in 18 innings of work.
