Estrada claims RRAC Player of the Week Honors

The Pilots have had a player of the week named each week so far in the Red River Athletic Conference as Estrada brings the streak to five players from LSUS being named to the weekly award.
WACO, Texas - Manny Estrada of LSU Shreveport and Anthony Seabolt of Bacone College (Okla.) were selected as the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Co-Players of the Week for Feb. 27-March 4, while Marcos DeLeon of the University of Texas-Brownsville was picked as the RRAC Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Estrada, a junior shortstop from New Orleans, accounted for nine RBIs and three runs scored in a 3-1 week for the Pilots. He drove in two runs in a 12-8 win over Louisiana College to open the week , and he went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in the middle game of a three-game set with the University of the Southwest (N.M.). Estrada helped LSUS win the rubber game of the series, 9-2, with three hits and three RBIs. For the week, he was 10-of-18 at the plate with four doubles. The Pilots are now 6-2 in conference play and 17-2 overall.
Seabolt, a junior leftfielder from Tulsa, Okla., scored eight runs and collected four RBIs to propel the Warriors to a 4-1 week. He was 2-for-6 hitting and scored three times in a double-header sweep of St. Gregory's University (Okla.). Seabolt also scored in each game as Bacone took two of three against UTB. He had three doubles in the second game as the Warriors won, 11-10, and racked up four hits including a home run and three RBIs to lead a 14-13 win in the deciding game. Seabolt was 10-of-17 at the plate as Bacone moved to 6-3 in the RRAC and 14-9 on the season.
DeLeon, a junior pitcher from Monterrey, Mexico, tossed a two-hitter to earn a 4-1 victory over BC. He surrendered just one unearned run in seven innings of work while striking out seven. The Scorpions are 10-2 in the conference and 15-10 overall.
Eric Alvarez of USW, Justin Barnes of Texas Wesleyan University, Zach Cordia of UTB, Adam Humes of Northwood University (Texas) and Joe Serna of Texas College were additional player of the week nominees. Tyler King of TWU, David Kipp of TXC, Matt Lackie of LSUS and Clayton Woodruff of NU were also nominated for pitcher of the week.
