March 02, 2005
Mobile, AL---The #7 LSUS Lady Pilots 200-2005 season came to end Wednesday morning with a 73-62 loss at the hands of the #2 University of Mobile Lady Rams in round two of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference tournament. The Lady Pilots took a 33-29 lead into the locker room at halftime, but Crystal Coston’s 30 point performance, 19 of which came in the second half proved to be too much for the Lady Pilots.
Eleven turnovers and a 2-10 shooting performance from beyond the three point line in the second half by LSUS proved to be the difference in what had potential to be an upset by the Lady Pilots over the Lady Rams. The Lady Rams went on to shoot 46% (28-61) from the field which included a 4-9 performance from beyond the three point line on route to their 24th victory of the year. Coston collected a game high 30 points on 13-20 shooting, 12 rebounds, and five steals, while teammate Kinga Rybarczyck pitched in with 14 points and 10 rebounds to send the Lady Rams to the semi-finals tomorrow versus the winner of Loyola University versus Spring Hill College which will be played today at 12:00pm.
The Lady Pilots finished shooting 25-55(45.5%) from the floor which included 6-19 from beyond the three point line. Renalda Stafford finished with a team high 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Kendera Monette pitched in with 12 points and 5 rebounds in what proved to be the last game of a much improved season by the Lady Pilots who finished with a 13-20 record on the year, surpassing the 8-21 record from 2003-2004.
The LSUS Pilots will be in action tonight at 10:00pm versus the Tougaloo College Bulldogs. You can catch all the action live with Travis Shurling Casey Collins at ibn.ihigh.com.
