November 15, 2003
The LSUS Lady Pilots concluded their stay at the John Brown University Classic in Siloam Springs, Arkansas with a defeat at the hands of the College of the Ozarks Bobcats. In the first half the Bobcats opened up a 13 point lead which they continued to build on in the second half. The final score ended 77-53 in favor of the Bobcats.
Despite the 0-3 start by the Lady Pilots, head coach Ronnie Howell remains positive that his team will come around. "We were out-sized under the basket but we worked hard and still managed to get our shots up. We just need to start shooting a better percentage, which we will." said Howell after the game.
Renalda Stafford finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds, the first double-double of the year for LSUS. The Bobcats had three players reach double-digits in the victory. Cara Painter led the teams scoring with 18 points, followed by Katie Howard's 15 and Kellie Howard's 11 point performances.
Both the men's and women's teams for LSUS will hit the hardwood next Tuesday, November 18 in their home openers versus Texas, College. The women begin at 5:30, and the men's tip-off begins with the conclusion of the Lady Pilots contest.
