Big Second Half Lifts Lady Pilots to Victory

November 21, 2008

MARSHALL, Texas - LSUS' Whitney Hollins hit 16 points in the second half going 6-6 from the field, including 4-4 from the 3-point line to give the Lady Pilots their second consecutive win, 74-52.

LSUS jumped out to a 14-5 lead after the first six minutes of action, but LeTourneau closed the gap to within two at 21-19 at the nine minute mark of the first half and took a two-point lead over the Lady Pilots just one minute later. LSUS, however, went on to score 10 more points in comparison to LETU’s 7 to take a one point lead of 31-30 at the half.

The Lady Pilots opened up the second half scoring 10 consecutive points including 8 from Hollins before LETU was able to finally make a basket. The Jackets crept within 41-37, but continued to struggle offensively through out the second half hitting just 7-27 shots from the floor, as LSUS caught fire in the second half and cruised to an easy win.

Hollins finished with 18 points to lead LSUS, while Quan Joseph posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Valerie Huizar scored 12 points and Callie Davis added 11 for the Lady Pilots.

LSUS will have little time to celebrate, as they turn around to face ETBU tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
