Barnes Named GCAC Baseball Player of the Week

Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced today the baseball player of the week for the week ending February 24, 2008.

Craig Barnes, a sophomore transfer from the University of Lousiana-Monroe, had an outstanding week at the plate, helping lead the LSUS Pilots to a perfect 4-0 record on the week.

Barnes began the week with a 3-for-5 performance versus NCAA Division 2 Southern Arkansas, recording the only three Pilot hits of the game in their extra innings victory. Barnes continued his hot bat in the three-game series versus LSUA, hitting two homeruns, a triple, three doubles and knocking in nine runs.

Barnes is now hitting .383 while leading the Pilots in HR (2), RBI (19), TB (31) and SLG% (.660).
