Badgers top Pilots 85-83 in GCAC opener

Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Pilots trailed by as many as 22 points early in the second half to the Spring Hill College Badgers in their Gulf Coast Athletic Conference home opener. A late courageous run brought the Pilots to within one point with 0:04 seconds remaining. After two made free throws by the Badgers, the Pilots trailed 85-82. The Pilots rushed the ball up the court for a last attempt to tie and were fouled with .09seconds remaining. Nick Garrett connected on the first attempt and was forced to miss the second hoping for a Pilots rebound and tip in. SHC knocked the ball away on the rebound allowing the clock to run out on the Pilots who dropped an 85-83 decision to fall to 9-2 (0-1 GCAC). Spring Hill sits at 5-3 (1-0 GCAC).

For the Badgers, Jeremy Price led the way with 16 points. Owen McNalley and Marcus Coleman each finished with 15, while Cash Covington added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

LSUS was led by Freddy Hughes who finished with a game high 23 points. Kyile Byrd added 10 points and nine rebounds, and Travis Cash added 10 points and five boards.
