Badgers defeat Lady Pilots 73-57

Shreveport, LA---The Spring Hill College Badgers used a 28-of-51 (55%) shooting performance from the field to drop the LSUS Lady Pilots to 2-3 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action Monday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Center with a 73-57 victory.

The Badgers jumped out to a 38-27 halftime lead after connecting on 14-of-25 field goal attempts which included 4-of-5 from beyond the three-point line. All eight players figured in the scoring in the first half with Maria Rodriguez and Catie Shields leading the way with seven points a piece.

The Lady Pilots trailed by as many as 12 points early in the second half before point guard Moche Roque collected five consecutive points and cut the Badgers lead to 48-43 with 11:40 remaining.

LSUS however could not stop the hot shooting of the Badgers on this night who finished the half on a 25-14 run and improved to 2-3 in the GCAC with a 73-57 win.

Rodriquez led the Badgers offense with a team high 20 points and eight rebounds. Nicole Thomas added 10 of her 15 points in the second half while Shields finished with 15 points and six rebounds.

LSUS was led by Roque who was 7-of-14 from the floor and finished with a game high 21 points and was mistake free at the point position allowing zero turnovers. Jessica Kelly added 16 points and a game high four steals while teammate Amanda Castle pitched in with six points and a game high 10 rebounds.
