Awagu named RRAC Offensive Player of the Week

WACO, Texas -- William Awagu of LSU Shreveport stood out as the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 22-28, while Lorenzo Munoz of Wiley College (Texas) grabbed the RRAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award for the same dates.
Awagu, a senior forward from Warri, Nigeria, propelled the Pilots to a 2-1 victory over Northwood University (Texas) by scoring one goal and assisting on another. LSUS clinched a berth in the conference tournament with a mark of 7-3-1 in RRAC play and a record of 12-5-1 on the season.
Munoz, a senior goalkeeper from Brownsville, Texas, recorded six saves -- all after halftime -- to earn a double-overtime victory, 1-0, over the University of St. Thomas (Texas). Munoz finished his college career with three consecutive wins to help Wiley close out with a 4-7 conference record with a mark of 4-11 overall.
Robert Alexe of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) and Alan Murillo of Wiley were nominated for this week's offensive award, while Luis Flores of HT and Lance Quini of LSUS were defensive nominees.
