Alphonse earns pitcher of the week honors in GCAC

Sam Alphonse of Louisiana State University – Shreveport has been chosen the GCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Alphonse, a junior from Fordoche, La., was 2-0 on the week, gaining victories in the Pilots’ 7-4 win over Thomas University and a 3-1 conference win against Spring Hill. He had a 1.00 era with 8 strikeouts in 9 innings pitched.

Alphonse is currently 4-2 on the year with a 3.29 ERA. The LSUS Pilots stand at 24-14 on the year, 11-7 in the GCAC which is puts them alone in second place, one game ahead of the University of Mobile Rams.
