#4 LSUS and #16 Xavier University-New Orleans Set to Square Off

Shreveport, La. - The LSUS men’s basketball team will host #16 Xavier University-New Orleans in a primetime match-up of Gulf Coast Athletic Conference rivals on Wednesday night at The Dock.The Pilots are led by the reigning GCAC Player of the Week and NAIA All-American Josh Porter. Porter comes into Wednesday's night's contest averaging a team-high 21.7 points per game, which includes a career-high 40-point performance in last Thursday's 90-52 win over Spring Hill.
Senior Jamon Morris also provides the Pilots with a presence in the paint, as he is averaging over 14 points and 11 rebounds per game on the year. Morris is currently ranked #2 in the NAIA in rebounding, while leading the nation in double-doubles with 14.
Xavier is led by senior Mark Stewart, who averages just under 14 points per contest and is Xavier's all-time leader in three-point field goals made.
LSUS holds a 6-1 series advantage over Xavier, with the Gold Rush's only win coming in 2004 in the first-ever matchup between the two schools.
Coach Chad McDowell and the Pilots, who have reeled off 17 consecutive wins to begin the season, will look pick up their 18th win on the year and their seventh straight victory over the Gold Rush.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
