2005 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Championship Information

FORMAT: The championship is a 32-team, single-elimination tournament featuring 16 automatic qualifiers from 11 Division I affiliated conferences, one independent qualifier, and 15 at-large berths.  The tournament bracket will be released on Wednesday, March 9.

 GAME TIMES:

 *First-Round  Wednesday, March 16 and Thursday, March 17 with eight games: 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m., *8:45 p.m., and **10:30 p.m. (*8 p.m. & **9:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 17)

*Second-Round  Friday, March 18, with eight games: 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9:45 p.m.

*Quarterfinals   Saturday, March 19, four games at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., & 8 p.m.

*Semifinals  Monday, March 21, two games at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

*Championship  Tuesday, March 22 at 8 p.m. (CST) – Televised nationally on CSTV

 

SPECIAL EVENTS:

*Honorary Coach Drawing, 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 9 – Thirty-two local companies are paired with the 32 participating teams to serve as host for the week.

*Tip Off Event, hosted by the City of Kansas City, 6 p.m., Tuesday,    March 15.

*Kansas City Classic Sports Xtravaganza, Wednesday, March 16-Saturday, March 19 – Fan Fest event featuring interactive sports games and exhibits, the Naismith History of Basketball Exhibit, autograph signings, and collectibles.

*Champions of Character Youth Exhibition Games, Wednesday, March 16-Saturday, March 19, Municipal Auditorium – Local youth teams play games at Municipal Auditorium between tournament games.

*Businessperson Special, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday, March 16-Friday, March 18 – Admission plus a meal for one low price!

*Brown Bag Day, Friday, March 18 – Bring your Brown Bag lunch to Municipal!

*DST Systems Youth Day, Noon, Saturday, March 19, Municipal Auditorium Free admission for kids attending a special presentation, includes basketball skills clinic and Champions of Character presentations.

*Chamber Night, 4:30-6 p.m., Monday, March 21, Municipal Auditorium Exhibition Hall – Food, networking, and two basketball games for one low price.
