I have observed an unexpected consequence of the dual enrollment program. My students seem to have a higher level of motivation than usual. There are more students asking for help before school and after school than in previous years. There is an enhanced air of excitement due to their being considered LSUS students. Their enthusiasm has energized me and other faculty members at Byrd High School. Thank you and all the fine people at LSUS who have worked tirelessly to put this program together. The dual enrollment course offered by LSUS at Haughton High School proved to be an excellent learning experience for my students. It not only provided them with was an opportunity to earn college credit, but with instructional material that held them to a higher standard and challenged their minds. Students were motivated to learn, and, as a result, excelled within the class.
