| About Chris: | High school activities that prepared for college challenges: Literary Rally, Student Government, M.A.S.H., Day with a Doctor Factors considered in choosing major or program: LSUS has a strong science program, and my career goals are that of the medical field. My Reason(s) for choosing LSUS: I chose LSUS because the atmosphere is geared towards growing as an individual, as a student, and as a future career professional. Campus resources that have helped you get the best education at LSUS: Science computer lab, campus-wide computer lab. My favorite LSUS professor is (and why): Dr. Cheryl White. Before I took her class, I really didn't care all that much about history. She made history enjoyable and now it's one of my favorite subjects outside of science. My favorite thing about LSUS (and why): I like LSUS because the professors care about getting to know you as a person. Many of my professors have gone out of their way to help fellow students who have questions, even some opting to help find tutoring for individuals. My LSUS club / organization memberships include: Biology Club, Chemistry Club, Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, Chi Alpha A memorable moment at LSUS: A memorable moment at LSUS was when I had the opportunity to help out at a debate tournament held at LSUS. I had a chance to judge debaters from all over the United States. My favorite activity outside of my coursework is: My favorite activity outside of coursework is writing and working on my novel. My other interests include: I like to write music and read novels, bowling and miniature golf. My career goal(s) are: To either first get my graduate degree in public health and then go to medical school, or just to go straight to medical school out of college. If there's any advice I could give to a first time freshman it is this: take it one day at a time. I know of countless times that I have been overwhelmed by coursework or tests, especially around finals week. I would advise them to take each minute one at a time. Don't worry about what might happen in the future, but plan for it. While you do that, enjoy every moment you have. |
