Why Should I attend LSU Shreveport Orientation?
All admitted incoming first-time freshmen are required to attend an orientation session before registering for classes. New Student Orientation provides numerous opportunities to help new students adjust to the college experience. Not only do incoming freshmen and transfer students interact with other new students, but they also get to meet current students who can "show them the ropes." Students receive individualized assistance with class scheduling, get to know where things are on campus, learn about student life, and register for their first semester classes. We encourage transfer students to attend; however, it is not mandatory for those students.
All orientation sessions will begin with breakfast and check-in at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude in the afternoon, usually around 3:30 p.m. (ending times may vary)
How much does it cost?
There is a registration fee for students and parents attending New Student Orientation and Parent Orientation. Fees are $30.00 per person attending. The fee may be paid with cash, check or money order in advance. Please note that all orientation fees are nonrefundable.
How do I register?
Once admitted, students will receive an acceptance packet with information on how to register for New Student Orientation.
What do I need to bring to orientation?
Please bring a valid picture ID.
What should I wear for orientation?
We encourage students attending orientation to dress comfortably. In the summer months it is quite warm outside, and we will be taking a tour of the campus during orientation.
Can parents attend Orientation?
Orientation is designed for students who are new to the LSUS college community. However, the University recognizes the importance of a support system for students. We provide a Parent Orientation program offered during every orientation session designed especially for parents and/or other family members.
